BACK YARD MICRO-HOME

This Los Angeles micro-home was designed for a minimalist lifestyle. Nested in the back garden of a 1920 Tudor style residence it supports a more simple way of living while maintaining modern comfort, maximum adaptability and ROI. With a footprint of just 500 square feet this home retains a sense of spaciousness with high vaulted ceilings and skylights in small spaces that offer ample natural light.

Rustic wood beams offer a warm and old world feeling to a mix of clean modern and simple traditional materials. Constructed from reclaimed barn wood, they have a hollow interior which allows electrical wiring to run through it and the lights mounted underneath to provide an intimate cozy indirect lighting.

The deck of this micro home provides generous outdoor living space with a place for a full sized dining table with bench seating surround. Visually open to the 200 sq ft combined kitchen-living you will be able to sit in the shade of the vined trellis above or soak in the hot water of the Japanese ofuro or outdoor shower surrounded by garden vegetation, and soon to be a permaculture landscape. It is a sanctuary for simple living.

FOLDING SHIPS LADDER

This alternating tread loft ladder was crafted in close collaboration with metal and wood fabricator. Designed to take up minimal floor area in the living room while remaining comfortable to ambulate up and down for everyday use.

The ladder pivots at the top with a custom ball bearing hinge that allows it to be pushed up against the wall and out of the way when not in use. The alternating treads allow your feet to ambulate exactly in the same proportion as an everyday stair, making it extremely easy to use.
